Review:’The Millions’ is very satisfactory, but. Satisfactory only for folks brought up on a “strict” diet of Nollywood on VCD. To these folks, ‘The Millions’ will seem original and fantastic. And we can testify to it. We were blessed to see it with an audience of twenty something wonderful people. And they had madd fun. The screening was characterized by long happy giggles. There were even several moments of foot stamping and thigh slapping laughter. They loved ‘The Millions’. They loved the characters. And the twists and turns worked a spectacle on them.
But, being that ‘The Millions’ is essentially a shameless wholesale theft of ‘Ocean’s film series’ scripts; we were not impressed. We admit that the chemistry between characters and actors in ‘The Millions’ was sublime, ensuring that the comedy worked well and hence didn’t feel forced. But there’s just something very off putting about watching Ramsey Nouah forming George Clooney, Blossom Chukwujekwu forming Brad Pitt, AY forming Don Cheadle. And Nancy Isime channeling her very her own Julia Roberts. All in a Nollywood movie faking ‘Ocean’s Eleven’. Eerily off putting, we found it to be. Maybe you won’t. Our “Mildly” is there to guide you most strenuously. Tread carefully.
